A NEW NATION EXPANDS

ADB Designs WOW Wednesday at Gingerscraps

In 1803 the United States was a new country with radical new ideas that were transforming the rest of the world as well as its new citizens. The new nation, however, was only a small portion of the North American land mass and its population was starting to swell. There was a strong desire for new land to cultivate. A New Nation Expands represents that period of time.

Federalists and Republicans were at odds about fundamental governing issues as well as about the feasibility of purchasing new land. Napoleon offered the new United States the land called Louisiana, in return for 50 million francs (15 million US); President Thomas Jefferson and then secretary of state James Madison, were able to convince congress to ratify the deal and westward expansion began in earnest.

OLD FASHIONED FRIGHT

ADB Designs WOW Wednesday at Gingerscraps

Halloween used to be more about scary looks and “tricks” than candy and dressing provocatively. The vintage greeting cards of the past reflected that with images you won’t see on today’s cards. The “best costume” in the town parade was often a frightful witch similar to the wicked witch of the east in Oz. Past or present images of Halloween will look terrific with the frightful vintage elements included. Telling the stories about your memories of past Halloweens is scary fun with this collection..
